Maplewood schools are part of the unified South Orange-Maplewood School District that consists of six K-5 elementary schools, 2 middle schools and one public high school, Columbia High School, with 1,999 students. There are about 15 students per teacher in Maplewood Township. Columbia High Schools offers a widely diverse academic curriculum as well as programs in the performing and visual arts including an Emmy Award winning student television broadcasting station, an outstanding performing dance troupe, a marching band, two jazz bands and an orchestra. Columbia High School is also known for it championship athletic programs.
